On May 21st, Colégio Bernardette Romeira had the pleasure of hosting a talk with the renowned driver/rider Elisabete Jacinto, the first Portuguese to ever face the mythical Paris-Dakar on a motorcycle, having become in 2004 one of the first women in the world to complete the Paris-Dakar Rally driving a truck.
The School hosted her as a writer, but she came to talk mainly about her experience as a driver, letting us know the general characteristics of the rallies where she participates, as well as some of her and her team's experiences in them.
The books she came to present to us resulted from the writer's willingness to tell the stories behind her sports projects, which that go far beyond the competitions in which she participates.
"Portugueses no Dakar" Volumes 1 and 2 are two comic books which are part of Plano Nacional de Leitura (National Reading Plan).
The second volume tells the most striking stories of Elisabete Jacinto's rally adventures.
"Irina no Master Rali", the other book that she brought us, tells us an adventure based on the true story of Elisabete Jacinto completing the Master Rally on a motorcycle.
