On July 6, CBR's Summer Break Nature Explorers went to Pinheiros de Marim, in the Ria Formosa Natural Park, to learn about RIAS - Wild Animals Research and Recovery Center and their work in the protection of wild fauna. The students were welcomed by the biologist Vera, who taught them about the work of a wildlife hospital.
The students and their Science teacher, Ms. Célia Santos, delivered them two blackbird chicks rescued the day before by Ms. Santos, and sponsored a Common Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus). This bird was rescued in Portimão by the student Mónica Fidalgo after falling from the nest, and Mónica was responsible for its return to Nature. This was Lucky's (name given to the bird by the students, its new sponsors) first free flight.
