PROFESSIONS PROJECT TAKES YEARS 1-4 STUDENTS THROUGH DIFFERENT PROFESSIONS
• February 1st 2022 | Olhão
This year, Colégio Bernardette Romeira is developing the Professions Project with its Years 1-4 students: a set of initiatives that aims to show young children the different professions that exist, and how they contribute to a happier and more cohesive community.

As part of this project, CBR brought the architects Urduja Morelli and Luís Pinho to CBR, for presentations about their work in the field of architecture. Architect Urduja and Architect Luís showed them their projects, explained their profession and answered the students' questions.

Year 2 students also had a field trip around the city, in which they visited several jobs and had contact with the workers of these same places. The group visited CP (Olhão's train station), the Court, CTT (Olhão's post office) and Mrs. Fátima's hairdressing salon.

At the Court, Judge Cátia Monteiro welcomed the class and had the students simulate of a hearing, with an accused person, a lawyer, witnesses and a provider. The group also went on a guided tour of the facilities.

At the post office, the students were welcomed by Mr. Sérgio Cavaco and Mrs. Florbela. In addition to explaining the various jobs within a post office, they also gifted the class a stamp commemorating CTT's 500th anniversary.

The students also visited the train station and explored the various jobs linked to locomotive transportation, and stopped at Mrs. Fátima's hairdressing salon, where she explained to them everything a hairdresser does.

Througout Professions Project's several initiatives, the students reaction is unanimous: they are interested, curious, and more knowledgeable about how the different work areas make up the fabric of society.

The Professions Project will be in effect during the current school year.
